By results of measurement of a magnetic field it is possible to detect local magnetic anomalies which can be caused by ferromagnetic subject matter (required object of search).
From the aforesaid follows, that magnetometer maybe used only for search of ferromagnetic subject matters (iron, steel, nickel, ferrite) and does not suit for search of subject matters from nonferrous metals.

Also by means of magnetometer it is possible to detect old roads (on characteristic difference from a surrounding magnetic background), location of potter's craft (on the site of the potter's furnace the magnetic background differs from surrounding), old sites of ancient settlements, etc.
